I had a vision, an itch that wouldn't go away. I needed to create a painting for Xavier So Based, a talented and genuine artist whose style and music I deeply admire. After giving him an art print at his last show in Chicago during my winter break, I felt I hadn't made the lasting impression I wanted. So, I decided to go big or go home. This time, I aimed to create a personalized painting as a gift, something so unique and powerful that he couldn't help but notice me. I won't lie; this painting was a struggle. With only a week in Cleveland, I borrowed materials from my school and hustled to find places to sleep and paint. Essentially, I became voluntarily homeless, driven by my passion to complete this piece. Fortunately, my grandma stepped in and got me a hotel room, where I could rest and finish the painting.
The piece, titled "Xav In Da Chi," is a 24x36 oil painting that captures Xavier in a vibrant Chicago setting. He stands confidently, wearing my "IMDaBoss.com" merch, which will soon be available on my website. The painting depicts a dog peeing on a fire hydrant, graffiti on the walls, and a bustling urban backdrop. Each detail was meticulously crafted to embody Xavier's unique style and the raw energy of the underground scene.
I also made a few minor edits in Photoshop, and you can see both the original painting and the edited version on my Instagram.
Why Xavier So Based? His music and style resonate with me on a deep level. His genuine personality and the life references in his lyrics inspire me. I believe our creative visions align, and together, we could create something truly special. I hope he sees the potential in me and can help leverage my career. Xavier is definitely one of the artists I want to be associated with and work alongside.
I love the whole underground scene and hope to collaborate with many other artists in the future. Shout out to 130 World for the support. I'm excited to give Xavier this piece at his set on June 15th during Summer Smash. This painting symbolizes my dedication and passion, and I hope it marks the beginning of a fruitful partnership.
